About

Real Food Mental Health explores the powerful connection between mind, body, and spirit for a truly holistic perspective that most doctors and therapists aren’t equipped to provide. This podcast is hosted by Cody Cox, a licensed therapist in Utah, certified yoga teacher, and also a nutritional therapy practitioner (NTP). His philosophy is based on ancestral principles as recent, unbiased research has shown that our ancestors had it right all along! Scientists keep trying to fight with nature, but in doing so, are causing us more disease. It’s time to break free from that mindset and learn to work in harmony with nature for optimal health.Cody has been getting into metabolic psychotherapy, promoting ketogenic, carnivore, and low-carb diets and lifestyles that support improved metabolism, which translates to better mental health. He offers nutritional psychotherapy to residents of Utah and holistic nutrition to those who are either not in Utah or who don't need psychotherapy.

FAQs

How can I book an appointment with you?
Book an appointment here. You’ll need to buy a package before booking.
How can I advertise on your show?
Use this link to buy a spot. Advertisements must be holistic and clean or will be rejected.
Do you work with children?
I wish I could say yes, but I tried that for a while and found it to be unsustainable. In some circumstances, I will work with independent and responsible teenagers but most of my clients are adults.
Do you also help people with physical conditions using nutrition?
Yes! While I’m not a physician and can’t “treat” or diagnose physical conditions, nutrition is holistic, which means it supports the whole person rather than just a single system or symptom.
Do you sell supplements?
I do! Go here to check out my dispensary where you'll find clinical-grade supplements (as opposed to retail) and other health products.
Do you prescribe medications?
I do not. I believe in using food and lifestyle as medicine first. If you are on medication and working with me, you’ll need to see your prescriber regularly for medication adjustments.
How can I be a guest on the show?
I have a screening process to ensure an appropriate fit. Send a message with a short pitch here.
Do you work with eating disorders?
It’s a common misconception to assume that I do, especially among therapists. While I don’t specialize in them, I will work with such patients if they are capable of safely making small dietary changes. Extreme cases will be referred elsewhere.
I don’t live in Utah. Can you see me online for nutritional psychotherapy?
If you live outside of the USA, then it’s possible, depending on your country. If you are in the USA, then I may be able to see you for nutrition instead but you need to find another therapist who’s licensed in your state if you need the mental health side too.
Do you take insurance?
Sort of. For psychotherapy, I bill for out-of-network benefits using a billing service that does all the work for you. They charge a 5% fee but with guaranteed reimbursement. It’s much easier than submitting a superbill (which requires you to do all the work). I can’t bill insurance for nutrition unless it’s part of psychotherapy.
Do you need an agent for your show?
No. While I wish I was that successful, I’m a solo producer/host and have a very limited budget. I’m not in a position to hire anyone.
